Annamayya district administration on Monday launched a massive yoga camp to commemorate the 617th birth anniversary of saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharya at Tallapaka, the birthplace of the saint.
As many as 617 participants performed yoga asanas near the 108-ft statue of Annamacharya on the Chennai-Nagpur National Highway. The session was organised as part of the State government’s month-long Yogandhra-2025 initiative.
As a tribute to Tallapaka Annamacharya, over 32,000 people performed yoga postures at various villages, mandal headquarters, and divisions across the district.
Emphasizing the positive impact of yoga on physical, mental, and emotional well-being, Collector Sridhar Chamakuri felt that yoga must be made a part of daily life to build a healthier society.
The camp commenced with devotional renditions of Annamacharya’s popular sankeertanas. Yoga Guru Ranganatha Reddy started the session, guiding participants through various modes of yoga, including asanas, meditation, and affirmations.
Rajampeta MLA Akeapati Amarnath Reddy and senior officials from the district and mandal level took part in the event.
