More than 60 schools in the national capital and Bengaluru received bomb threats on Friday morning, creating panic and confusion among teachers and students. While 40 private schools in Bengaluru received hoax emails, 20 schools in Delhi received bomb threats today.

Schools in several areas, including Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Kengeri, in Bengaluru were threatened through an anonymous email message. Additionally, Delhi’s Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar and Modern International School in Dwarka were among several schools that received hoax emails.

Police administration in Delhi and Bengaluru jumped into action and deployed teams outside the targeted schools, while students and staff were swiftly evacuated. The sender claimed to have placed several explosive devices within the classrooms of the respective schools, according to several reports.

“Hello. I am writing to let you know that I have placed several explosive devices (trinitrotoluene) within school classrooms. The explosives are skillfully hidden, in black plastic bags. I will erase every last one of you from this world. Not a single soul will survive. I will gladly laugh when I will watch the news, only to see the parents show up at the school and to be greeted by the cold, dismembered bodies of their children," the Delhi Police quoted the threat email as saying.

‘You Deserve To Suffer’

‘You all deserve to suffer. I truly hate my life, I will commit suicide after the news, will slit my throat and slit my wrists. I was never truly helped, psychiatrists, psychologists, no one has ever cared and no one will ever care," it added.

“You only care about medicating the helpless and clueless humans’ psychiatrists never tell you that those meds ruin your organs or that they cause disgusting weight gain. You brainwash people into thinking psychiatric meds can help them. But they don’t. I am a living proof that they do not. You all deserve this. You deserve to suffer just like me."

The bomb squad and police cross-checked every corner of the school and found no traces of any explosive materials, indicating that the threat was a hoax. A senior police officer told news agency PTI that all necessary measures were taken upon receiving the bomb threat, and it turned out to be a hoax email.

In Delhi, St. Xavier’s School, IP College for Women, Hindu College, and Shri Ram College of Commerce also received bomb threats via email.

AAP Lashes Out At BJP

Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Friday raised concerns over the bomb threats, criticising the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for not being able to ensure safety for students.

“More than 20 schools have received bomb threats today! Think of the trauma that children, parents and teachers would be going through. BJP controls all 4-engines of governance in Delhi, and is yet not able to provide any safety or security to our children! Shocking," Atishi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Kalkaji assembly constituency, posted on X.

This is the fourth time in a week that Delhi schools have received hoax bomb threats. More than ten schools and one college in the national capital have received bomb threats via email over the last three days, prompting police action and temporary closures.

On Tuesday, St. Stephen’s College and St. Thomas School were also threatened with hoax threats. The email to St. Stephen’s chillingly claimed that multiple IEDs and RDX bombs were planted in its premises and library, threatening detonation by 2 pm.
