Overnight rainfall hits overburden removal in Koyagudem Opencast Mine-1

Overburden (OB) removal in the Koyagudem Opencast Mine-1 of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in Bhadradri Kothagudem district was disrupted on Tuesday due to overnight rainfall.

As a result, coal production was hit in the opencast mine owing to slushy conditions, sources said.

Light to moderate rains lashed Chandrugonda, Palvancha, Annapureddypally, Julurupadu, Dammapeta, Aswaraopeta, Yellandu and various other mandals in the district in the last 24 hours.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, Chandrugonda mandal in the district recorded the highest rainfall of 61.0 mm during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on July 1.
