‘Padakkalam’, the latest Malayalam fantasy comedy starring Suraj Venjaramoodu and Sharaf U Dheen, has made its OTT streaming at midnight on June 10, less than a month after its theatrical release.Praised for its clever humour and engaging storyline, ‘Padakkalam’ now reaches audiences across five languages—Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.
When Two Profs Wake Up in Each Other’s Shoes
Body-swaps aren’t exactly a fresh gimmick, yet Padakkalam keeps it lively by hauling the chaos into an engineering college. Ranjith (Suraj Venjaramoodu) and Shaji (Sharaf U Dheen) both want the department’s top job—until one midnight mix-up leaves them stuck inside each other’s skins. Shaji, now powered by Ranjith’s offbeat quirks, starts acting so bizarre that his students sniff something fishy. Enter Jithin, the resident smart-aleck, who discovers an old Pachisi board laced with dark magic.
One stolen game set later, and the whole campus is scrambling to undo a spell that’s as funny as it is inconvenient.

Suraj Steals the Laughs, Sharaf Matches the Madness
Suraj Venjaramoodu leans into Ranjith’s sly charm, tossing in little gestures and throwaway lines that land every time. Sharaf U Dheen, playing the suddenly bewildered Shaji, proves the perfect foil—wide-eyed, exasperated, and ready with a comeback. Their back-and-forth is the film’s heartbeat: Suraj’s sly grin versus Sharaf’s mounting panic.
Throw a pack of meddling students into the mix and you get a screwball rhythm that rarely lets up. Sharafudheen’s performance in the movie also received good reviews from the audience.
