AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of using the issue of delimitation of Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies as a distraction to “cover up the failures and scams” of the DMK government.
In a reply to the Chief Minister’s post on his social media handle, Mr. Palaniswami urged Mr. Stalin to “delimit” illicit liquor, rowdyism, corruption, and the “arrogance and stranglehold” of his family on the State.
As for delimitation, he reiterated that his party would “never allow” Tamil Nadu’s representation to be reduced or “our voice to be silenced”, a point he had made to Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah. Further, the party would “fiercely defend Tamil Nadu’s rightful voice and future” when delimitation came into effect.
Mr. Palaniswami, who contended that it was only in the DMK-led front that constituents, at the time of joining the bloc, had “signed a charter of slavery”, maintained that the people of the State were clear about the issues of delimitation and imposition of Hindi. They were “only suffering from the loss” of livelihood, safety, and security.
