Palaniswami suspects political rivalry in the murder of AIADMK functionary

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday criticised the DMK government over the murder of a party functionary. He cited reports that rivalry in the local body polls may have led to the murder.

In a social media post, Mr. Palaniswami expressed shock over the killing of Muthukrishnan of Ottapidaram in Thoothukudi district, adding, “Will the DMK government attribute personal reasons to this murder, too?”

Mr. Palaniswami alleged that the law and order situation had deteriorated, and that there was no safety for members of Opposition parties in the State.

The former Chief Minister called for strong action against those involved in the murder.
