District Collector Kritika Shukla has instructed all officials to take measures to ensure there is no loss of life or property in view of the severe weather warnings issued by the Meteorological Department over the impending Cyclone Montha.
Holding a teleconference with district and mandal-level officers in Monday (October 27), the Collector directed them to remain on high alert and ensure that people living in dilapidated structures and low-lying areas are shifted to safer locations well in advance. She emphasized that control rooms should be set up in the district headquarters and all mandals to monitor the situation round-the-clock.
Officials were also told to strictly prevent the public from entering rivers, streams and water bodies, and to caution citizens against stepping out of their homes during heavy gales. The Collector made it clear that all leaves for government staff are cancelled until the cyclone’s impact subsides, and that every officer and employee must stay at their headquarters to respond immediately to emergencies.
Ms. Kritika Shukla urged both officials and the public to remain vigilant and to cooperate with the administration to minimize risks during the cyclone’s landfall and aftermath.
