UJJAIN: A large pangolin was rescued from the restrooms built on farmland in Simlawada village of Ratlam district on Monday. SDO Forest S R Narges said the pangolin is larger than the normal species, but it was not measured yet.
"The animal was found in the restrooms at the farmland of one Dilipsingh Dahima in the village on the Indore-Ratlam road, about 28 kilometres from Ratlam," he added. Forest ranger Kamal Devda, who rescued the scaly anteater, said there was a possibility that the family of the pangolin was nearby. "We are searching for them," he added.The pangolin was taken to Sagod Road Depot, where it was examined by veterinarians. The pangolin is listed among rare animals in Wildlife Schedule One. As per departmental rules, the pangolin will be released secretly later. Devda said forest officials will observe the animal for a couple of days before releasing it. The search for its family was carried out on Tuesday too.
