Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, an officer of the Indian Army's Parachute Regiment, has been appointed as the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS), effective from August 1. His appointment marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career, spanning over 35 years of dedicated service to the Indian Army.

Lt. General Pushpendra Singh will be succeeding Lt General N.S. Raja Subramani, who assumed the office of VCOAS on July 1 last year. This appointment is a testament to Lt General Singh's exceptional leadership abilities and his continued commitment to serving the Indian Army.

Commissioned into the 4 Para Special Forces in 1987, Singh has had a remarkable career, participating in numerous operations, including Pawan, Meghdoot, Rakshak, and Orchid.

His foreign combat exposure includes serving in United Nations Peacekeeping Missions in Lebanon and Sri Lanka.

Singh has held various leadership roles throughout his career, including serving as the General Officer Commanding of the Rising Star Corps since April 2022. His service has been recognised with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Sena Medal, which he has been awarded twice.

An alumnus of the Indian Military Academy, Singh's educational background has played a significant role in shaping his leadership skills and strategic thinking.
