The Paralympic Committee of India terminated its contract with coach Naval Singh after allegations of verbal harassment and abuse from star javelin throw athlete Sumit Antil and Neeraj Chopra.

The move comes after Antil logged a formal complaint to the Sports Authority of India over alleged mental harassment and repeated use of abusive language by Singh. The written complaint was submitted on April 10 after the issue was previously raised with officials from SAI and the Paralympic Committee of India.

“The Committee unanimously decided to terminate the services of coach Naval Singh with immediate effect and remove him from all Paralympic Committee activities," said PCI in a statement.

“In this context, we would like to state clearly that since 2025, Mr. Naval Singh is not designated as the Coach of Para Athletics by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI). Consequently, his name has not been recommended by PCI for any Championship."

“The Paralympic Committee of India has taken this matter with the utmost seriousness. PCI is committed toward protecting the interests of its para athletes, including their dignity, respect, and mental well-being," he added.

“I have always been a clean athlete and I don’t want to be part of any controversy. I tried to explain to him (coach Naval Singh) multiple times, but this is not the first time. It has gone beyond my patience level," Antil said.

“He gets drunk and sends random recordings abusing us and dragging our families in it. He tends to behave this way when competitions approach."

“I approached SAI Deputy Director Arunlal and the CEO of TOPS. They initially tried to resolve the matter through a compromise, but this time I was not going to let it pass," he said.

“I may be the first to speak up, but there are many who have silently endured this."

Over a prolonged period, I have personally experienced repeated instances of verbal abuse, humiliation, and mental harassment under his conduct," Antil had said.
