NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday criticised the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress while addressing a public rally in Siwan, Bihar, saying that Bihar was ignored by earlier governments.Addressing the public rally in Siwan, the PM said the people of Bihar have "ended the jungle raj" created by the Congress-RJD.Also read: 'Hand & lantern greatly hurt self-respect of Bihar': PM Modi attacks oppn at Siwan rally"The Bihar that led India's progress for centuries was turned into a symbol of exodus by those with hand symbol and lantern," PM Modi said, referring to the election symbols of Congress and RJD."The ones with the hand symbol and the lantern have hurt Bihar's pride," he added.PM Modi also praised the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government.

"Overcoming many challenges, the NDA government under Nitish's leadership has brought Bihar back on the path of development."

He said the current government is continuing the mission of national leaders from the state. "The government of NDA is carrying forward the life mission of great men like Rajendra Prasad and Brajkishore Prasad with firm determination... In line with this development, we have inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth thousands of crores of rupees on this platform today..."

Prime Minister Modi also warned against electing those who are ready to put "brakes" on Bihar's progress. "For your bright future, your children's bright future, you have to be very careful. Those ready to put brakes on the journey towards prosperous Bihar must be kept miles away. Bihar will become the centre of Make in India," he added.The Prime Minister also spoke against the economic policies of the Congress party. “During the Congress’s licence raj, their leaders became rich, but the public remained poor,” he alleged.Claiming that RJD focuses on the progress of a single family, PM said, "We say 'Sabka saath, sabka vikas' but RJD believes in 'parivaar ka vikas'".
