Parliament Monsoon Session Live Updates: The Parliament proceedings will begin today after a five-day break. The Lok Sabha is set to hold a special discussion to honour Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and discuss his space visit and India’s critical role of the space programme for Viksit Bharat by 2047. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said he hopes members of all parties will take part in the discussion, like they did on Operation Sindoor and congratulate the Group Captain and Indian scientists.
Protests erupt: TMC MPs, including Kalyan Banerjee and Mahua Moitra, are staging a protest outside the Parliament premises over the Bengali language row. INDIA alliance MPs are also protesting against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar, amid allegations of ‘vote chori’ by the BJP and the Election Commission of India. Congress Rajya Sabha MPs Syed Naseer Hussain, Ranjeet Ranjan, Rajani Patil, and Neeraj Dangi have submitted Suspension of business notice under Rule 267 to discuss the “threats to the foundational principles of electoral democracy.” So far, there has been no discussion on the Bihar SIR.

Bills to be introduced: Among the bills to be introduced today, MP Piyush Goyal to move The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025 which aims to amend certain enactments for decriminalising and rationalising offences to further enhance trust-based governance for ease of living and doing business. The bill will be referred to a Select Committee of the Lok Sabha consisting of the Members to be nominated by the Hon’ble Speaker.
