MLS side Inter Miami honoured legendary Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets with a moving tribute as the World Cip-winner gears up to draw the curtains on his storied career.

The 37-year-old legend, who made the move to American shores in 2023 after nearly two decades at Barcelona, was given a guard of honour ahead of the Herons’ 4-1 triumph over New England revolution.

Busqurts walked out to the middle, flanked by players from the Florida-based side with long-time teammates Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba expressing their appreciation of the midfielder’s unparalleled talent on the field, alongside his kids and missus in a moving moment.

“I have no words. A part of me, of my heart, will always be here with you," Busquets said.

“Hopefully it can end in the best way possible," the midfield maestro continued.

“Which is being in the playoffs and going for the title," he added.

Renowned for his elegance, skill, and composure on the ball, Busquets is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive midfielders in history.

He played a crucial role in securing nine Spanish league titles with Barcelona and contributed to the club’s three Champions League triumphs.

Busquets was also part of the Spain team that clinched the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship, earning 143 caps.

He retired from international football after the 2022 World Cup and in 2023 moved to the United States to join his former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
