Passenger injured after jumping in front of train at Majestic metro station

Namma Metro services were briefly disrupted on Monday night after a passenger jumped in front of a train at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda (Majestic) metro station.

According to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the incident occurred at around 10.04 p.m. on August 11. “Emergency Train Stop (ETS) procedures were immediately activated, and station staff along with security personnel rescued the injured passenger. The individual was rushed to hospital for treatment,” BMRCL statement stated late in the night without any information on which line the incident occurred.

Meanwhile, BMRCL operated four short-loop services to manage passenger movement between stations. Normal train operations were restored at 10.28 p.m., 24 minutes after the incident.

BMRCL did not disclose further details about the passenger’s identity or condition. This is the latest in a series of such incidents prompting calls for installation of platform railings at the metro stations, especially at the busy stations like Majestic.
