Patna, Darbhanga airports to host day-long celebration to mark ‘Yatri Suvidha Diwas’ today

Patna: Jayprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna will host a day-long celebration on Monday to mark ‘Yatri Suvidha Diwas 2026’, with a focus on passenger convenience, service excellence and promotion of Bihar’s cultural heritage.

Meanwhile, Darbhanga Airport is observing ‘Yatri Suvidha Diwas 2026’ from June 5 to June 20, with a series of passenger-focused initiatives.At Patna airport, the programme will begin with the collective singing of Vande Mataram by airport officials and staff, symbolising unity and a shared commitment to passenger service. Airport director Chandra Pratap Dwivedi said passengers will be welcomed with traditional tika-chandan, while welcome kits will be distributed to enhance their travel experience.Cultural and folk dance performances will be held inside the terminal throughout the day, alongside exhibits showcasing local cuisine, art and handicrafts. Passenger welfare activities will include a blood donation camp, free health and eye check-ups for travellers and contractual employees. A tree plantation drive will be conducted on the city side, and saplings will be given to passengers to promote environmental awareness.

To engage young people, a painting competition for school students and guided airport visits with career counselling sessions for college students have been planned. “Special selfie points, decorative lighting and illumination will add to the festive atmosphere,” Dwivedi said, adding that housekeeping staff and women professionals will be honoured for their role in maintaining high service standards.Meanwhile, Darbhanga Airport on June 15, will host a traditional Mithila welcome, collective singing of Vande Mataram, sapling distribution, complimentary refreshments and felicitation of support staff.

Other activities underway include cultural programmes highlighting Mithila heritage, health camps, plantation drives, and recognition of frontline workers and women employees.Airport director Dilip Kumar said the airport has emerged as one of eastern India’s fastest-growing regional hubs, improving connectivity between north Bihar and major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. He added that enhanced infrastructure, new passenger facilities and deployment of CISF personnel since May 6 have strengthened security and convenience.The airport has also introduced facilities such as a kids’ zone, Wi-Fi, workstations and a flybrary, while sustainability efforts include a 100 kW solar power system and extensive plantation drives.
