Patna: The railways launched a new parking facility at Patna Junction on the Mahavir Mandir side on Tuesday to further enhance the travel experience. The state-of-the-art facility aims to provide parking services on par with modern airport standards, ensuring ease of access and a more organised space for passengers and commuters alike.According to Danapur senior divisional commercial manager (senior DCM) Abhinav Siddarth, the revamped parking system has introduced a new set of tariffs aimed at regulating vehicle parking.“Under the new rules, all vehicles can be parked for up to 8 minutes for free inside the circulating area of the Patna Junction. However, for those staying longer, different rates have been fixed for two-wheelers and four-wheelers,” he said, adding that the railways has updated a new tariff for two-wheelers which is Rs 20 for two hours, followed by Rs 25 for six hours, Rs 30 for 12 hours, Rs 40 for 24 hours and Rs 50 per day for more than 24 hours.
While Rs 10 has been fixed for keeping a helmet, Rs 1,000 is fixed as a monthly charge for each two-wheeler parking.Similarly, the tariff for each four wheeler is fixed at Rs 80 for two hours, while Rs 200 for six hours, Rs 350 for 12 hours, Rs 400 for 24 hours and above 24 hours will be charged Rs 500 per day.“The railways has closed the unauthorised entry at the Mahavir Mandir-side to ensure safety and smooth operation of the facility. This move aims to improve monitoring and curb unauthorised access. The entire area is now under constant surveillance with the installation of CCTV cameras, ensuring a secure and well-regulated environment for all parked vehicles,” he said.
