PD Act invoked against ‘ganja smuggler’

The Preventive Detention (PD) Act was invoked against a ‘habitual offender’ allegedly involved in ganja smuggling cases registered in various police station limits in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Sunday.

Police identified the accused as S. Venkanna of Kashiram thanda, Kesamudram mandal in Mahabubabad district.

Ganja smuggling cases are pending against him in Yellandu and Bhadrachalam police station limits and also in Rajendranagar (Hyderabad).

The PD Act was invoked against him as per the instructions of the higher-ups. The accused was shifted from Khammam sub-jail to Central Prison at Cherlapalli on Sunday.
