US President Donald Trump said he expects the first public release of findings from a Pentagon review of unidentified aerial phenomena, commonly known as UFOs, to occur “very, very soon."
Speaking Friday at a rally hosted by conservative groups Turning Point USA and Turning Action at Dream City Church in north Phoenix, Trump told supporters that Arizona was a fitting place to discuss the topic, adding that residents of the state are “really into that."
The president said the review process is already underway and has uncovered material he described as “very interesting." He did not provide details about the contents of the documents or specify a timeline beyond saying initial disclosures are imminent.
“As you remember, I recently directed the Secretary of War … to begin releasing government files relating to UFOs and unexplained aerial phenomena," Trump said. “This process is well underway … and the first releases will begin very, very soon."
Trump had previously indicated in February that he would order federal agencies to begin identifying and declassifying records related to extraterrestrial life and unexplained aerial incidents, citing heightened public curiosity. He also referenced comments by former President Barack Obama, suggesting they had fueled speculation about the existence of alien life.
The Pentagon and other federal agencies have in recent years increased efforts to investigate unidentified aerial phenomena, often referred to as UAPs, amid bipartisan calls in Congress for greater transparency. Lawmakers have pushed for more comprehensive reporting and declassification of government-held information tied to unexplained sightings, particularly those reported by military personnel.
While defense officials have acknowledged that some incidents remain unexplained, they have emphasized that no confirmed evidence has established the existence of extraterrestrial life.
Trump did not say which agency would lead the document releases or how much material would ultimately be made public. The Department of Defense has not yet commented on the president’s latest remarks.
