A team of students of P.E.S. College of Engineering (PESCE), Mandya, emerged as the overall winners in the hardware edition of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025. The Smart India Hackathon is organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in collaboration with AICTE and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. The finale of SIH 2025 was held at Galgotias University this month.
The winning students include Ananya R. from Civil Engineering; Karan Dhandale from Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Swarna Diksha S. from Mechanical Engineering; R.M. Monith Surya from Robotics and Artificial Intelligence; Abhishek J.S. from Computer Science and Engineering and Nandan T. Nayak from Civil Engineering.
Out of 1.2 lakh teams from across the country who participated in the hackathon, 1,300 teams qualified for the final round. In the Healthcare and Prosthetics category, around 500 teams had registered, but only five teams reached the finals. Among them, the PESCE team secured the winning position, excelling in innovation, technical precision, and social relevance. The winning project focuses on a low-cost innovative technology to improve the comfort and precision fit of artificial limbs.

Pavana K.N., coordinator of PES NEXT Innovation and Incubation Centre, and Shalvian John D’Souza, incubation manager (Infinity), provided technical guidance to students.
