Minister in charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa unveiled a plaque with an engraving of the Preamble of the Constitution at Town Hall here on Saturday.
Dr. Mahadevappa said that the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, which instills a feeling of unity among the citizens, should reach every household.
He appreciated the initiative of the Mysuru City Corporation in installing a large stone plaque with the Preamble of the Constitution at a prominent place in the city, and said that this will help create greater awareness among the public
Dr. Mahadevappa expressed concern that there were attempts in the country to distort or change the Constitution and called for greater vigil and unity among the Dalits to strengthen B.R. Ambedkar’s call for education, organisation, and struggle.
Jnana Prakash Swami of Urilinga Peddi Mutt said it was a matter of pride that the plaque with the Preamble has been installed in the cultural capital of the State. It enshrines the principle of equal respect for all religions and was the protective shield of the nation, he added.
Jnana Prakash Swami said that every household should display the Preamble as it conveyed the message of equality and brotherhood among all Indians.
Pushpa Amarnath, Vice-Chairperson of the State Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority, Shivakumar and Manje Gowda, MLCs; Arun Kumar, District Guarantee Scheme President; Purushottam, former Mayor; G. Lakshmikant Reddy, Deputy Commissioner; S. Yukesh Kumar, Mysuru Zilla Panchayat CEO; and senior officials of the Social Welfare Department were among those present.
