PM Keir Starmer criticizes Kneecap’s Glastonbury performance—Internet reacts

Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom recently stated that he doesn't think Kneecap- an Irish band's planned performance at the Glastonbury Festival is appropriate, inciting a lot of online debate.Kneecap, is an Irish hip-hop trio from Belfast, Northern Ireland composed of three members, Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí. In an interview with The Sun, Starmer was asked if the trio should perform at the annual performing arts festival when he said: "No, I don't, and I think we need to come down really clearly on this.""This is about the threats that shouldn't be made, I won't say too much because there's a court case on, but I don't think that's appropriate."

Kneecap responds to the PM

On Saturday, the band of three took to social media to respond to the prime minister's comments, writing, "You know what's 'not appropriate' Keir?!" They then used an expletive to accuse him of arming a genocide.One of the members of the band, Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh has been in court charged with a terror offence, for allegedly displaying a flag at a gig in November in support of Hezbollah, which is proscribed as a terrorist organization by the UK.

Charged under the name Liam O'Hanna, the member was released on unconditional bail after Wednesday's hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court.Following the hearing, the rapper said, "For anybody going to Glastonbury, you can see us there at 4pm on the Saturday.""If you can't be there we'll be on the BBC, if anybody watches the BBC. We'll be at Wembley in September. But most importantly: free, free Palestine."

There have been a multitude of protests to stop the war and save the people suffering from it. Thus, the band joining in and giving the plea a more global platform was appreciated by most.And the PM criticising them was not taken lightly by their fans."Awww.
