As panic and chaos gripped Bengaluru following a deadly stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium which welcomed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad to celebrate their maiden IPL victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the tragic deaths.
Taking to X, the official account of Prime Minister Office wrote, “The mishap in Bengaluru is absolutely heartrending. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who are injured have a speedy recovery (sic)."

CM Siddaramaiah also expressed shock and extended condolences to the families. In a post on X, the CM wrote, “Deeply shocked by the tragic loss of lives in the stampede during the RCB victory celebrations near Chinnaswamy Stadium. A moment of joy has been eclipsed by sorrow. I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Precautionary measures were taken by not allowing a victory parade, but the crowd surge near the stadium led to this tragedy. I urge everyone to always prioritise safety — above excitement, celebration, or crowd fervour (sic).

The celebrations for RCB’s title win turned into a nightmare for several people who became victims of the stadium horror.
A stampede-like situation occurred near Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium earlier in the day. At least 11 people were killed while dozens injured in the chaos near the cricket stadium, where RCB players were set to be felicitated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
As per reports, a child was among the deceased, while several others were in serious condition. The injured have been admitted to the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital. Police were seen using mild force as they struggled to control the situation.
According to media reports, the stampede broke out at around 4.45 pm when more than 15 people, including a woman, fell on the ground amid the rush outside Gate 1 of the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru ahead of the celebration.
After defeating Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad in IPL title clash on Tuesday, the RCB was scheduled to celebrate their victory in Bengaluru Wednesday. The team arrived at HAL Airport on a special flight on Wednesday afternoon. As per plans, a felicitation programme took place at Vidhana Soudha, with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in attendance. Later, the team left Vidhan Soudha for Chinnaswamy Stadium. Thousands of fans had gathered in front of Vidhana Soudha as well as outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
