On the occasion of Babasaheb Ambedkar's birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, at the Prerna Sthal inside the Parliament complex. During the meeting, the Prime Minister urged Kharge to support the upcoming Amendment Bill aimed at operationalising the Women's Reservation Act, describing it as a collective responsibility for women's empowerment. In response, Kharge stated that he would provide an answer following internal consultations within the opposition ranks. This development occurs ahead of a crucial parliamentary session scheduled from April 16 to 18, where the Amendment Bill is expected to be introduced. Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc is preparing for a key strategic meeting at Kharge's residence to finalise their stance on delimitation and the proposed amendments. The meeting is expected to be attended by major opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Samajwadi Party (SP), and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), even as they await the specific details of the bill.
