Aizawl: In a significant boost to Mizoram’s infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the newly constructed 51.38-kilometre Bairabi–Sairang railway line during his visit to the state on Saturday.
This development will make Aizawl the fourth capital city in the northeastern region to be linked by rail, marking a major milestone in the state's connectivity.The Prime Minister will also flag off three new express train services: the Aizawl–Delhi Rajdhani Express, Aizawl–Kolkata Express, and Aizawl–Guwahati Express, enhancing travel options for the region’s residents.In addition to the railway projects, Modi will inaugurate two new educational institutions and launch six development initiatives, underscoring the government's commitment to the region’s growth.Preparations for the PM’s visit are in full swing, with chief minister Lalduhoma overseeing a review meeting to ensure smooth proceedings. Chief secretary Khilli Ram Meena provided a comprehensive update on the arrangements, while various departments coordinated their efforts.Security measures are being meticulously planned, with state home minister K Sapdanga leading discussions on safeguarding key locations, including Lengpui Airport and Sairang Railway Station, to ensure a secure visit for the PM.
