Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch his Bihar election campaign in support of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates on October 24, State BJP president Dilip Jaiswal said on Sunday (October 19, 2025).

Mr. Modi will hold his first rally in Samastipur district, the birthplace of former Chief Minister of Bihar Karpoori Thakur. He will also visit Karpoorigram, the ancestral home of the Bharat Ratna awardee.

“Prime Minister Modi will launch his campaign from Karpoori village, where he will pay tribute to the great leader of the people and then address his first election rally in Samastipur,” Mr. Jaiswal said.

‎Mr. Jaiswal said Mr. Modi would then address an election rally in Begusarai on the same day. The Prime Minister will also visit Bihar on October 30 to address rallies in Muzaffarpur and Chapra. He will also address meetings on November 2, 3, 6 and 7, Mr. Jaiswal said, adding further dates of his election rally would be shared later.

Mr. Jaiswal clarified that the Prime Minister will not be visiting the State during Chhath Puja. “The Prime Minister wanted to be here during Chhath Puja, but Chhath devotees may face issues due to his arrival, so due to security reasons, he will not be coming,” Mr. Jaiswal said.

He added that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address around 25 rallies in Bihar and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and other top leaders will attend an equal number of meetings.

On October 16, the party released its list of 40 star campaigners, featuring top leaders such as Mr. Modi and BJP chief J.P. Nadda, besides Union Ministers Shah and Singh. The list also had the names of five BJP Chief Ministers, including Assam’s Himanta Biswa Sarma, Delhi’s Rekha Gupta and Maharashtra’s Devendra Fadnavis, along with Bhojpuri stars Pawan Singh, Manoj Tiwary and Ravi Kishan.

Mr. Shah had started his campaign from Saran on October 17.

Meanwhile, ‎‎Mr. Jaiswal targeted the Mahagatbandhan, or grand alliance, over seat-sharing and ticket-distribution issues. Mr. Jaiswal said while “all five Pandavas” of the NDA -- a reference to the BJP, the Janata Dal (United), the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) -- have unitedly entered the electoral fray after amicable seat division, the “Kaurava Army” (grand alliance) was seeing infighting.

Accompanied by national spokesperson Guru Prakash and State media in-charge Danish Iqbal, ‎‎he asserted that the people of Bihar were wondering “how they will run the government if this was the situation with seat-sharing”.

“The people and voters of Bihar have resolved to form an NDA government again in Bihar. The people are also observing the culture and nature of the grand alliance. They are watching the ‘money game’ being played out for tickets in the grand alliance closely,” Mr. Jaiswal alleged.

The first phase of polling will be held on November 6 and the second phase on 11. The results will be announced on November 14.
