Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the death of the eighth Mahadasoha Peetadhipathi of the Sharnbasaveshwar Samsthan Sharnbaswappa Appa describing it as a great loss not only to his family and countless followers but also to the entire nation.
In a condolence letter addressed to Chairperson of the Sharnbasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha Dakshayini S. Appa, the Prime Minister has said that Appa had devoted his life to the expansion of the social and spiritual service activities of the samsthan.
“His guidance touched the lives of innumerable people across the region, inspiring them to walk the path of devotion, love and humility with a sense of higher purpose,” Mr. Modi noted.
Calling him a revered spiritual guide, Mr. Modi said that Appa had emphasised the practical aspects of spiritual wisdom and showed that true spirituality lay in living the ideal of Seva Paramo Dharma.
“He worked tirelessly to serve the poor and disadvantaged sections of society, creating a social, educational and economic impact on their lives,” the Prime Minister has said.
Mr. Modi also recalled Appa’s contribution as an author of repute who wrote extensively on traditions and philosophy by observing that his works such as the Dasoha Sutras will always remain a guiding light for future generations.
Highlighting Appa’s lasting contribution in the fields of education, health, women’s empowerment and the promotion of Kannada literature, culture and art, the Prime Minister said that they will always be fondly remembered.
Offering his heartfelt condolences to the family and followers of Appa, the Prime Minister said that the life and values of Appa will continue to inspire humanity forever.
He added that although Appa was no longer physically present, his spiritual presence will continue to guide the samsthan and beyond.
