PMC’s project to represent India in Netherlands meet

Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) project, ‘pink innovation’, has been selected for the international conference on resilient systems (ICRS-2026), to be held at Delft in Netherlands, in March 2026.The PMC will represent India at the event.The presentation of the PMC for achievement of sustainable development goals was formally accepted by the organising committee of the Netherlands in recognition of the civic body’s policies on sanitation, waste management and sustainable development.Pink innovation comprises several key initiatives. The pink toilets scheme converts mobile vehicles into changing rooms and toilets, ensuring convenience and dignity for the women.

The project also includes a pink material recovery facility (MRF), which encourages women’s participation in waste management, aids segregation and provides formal livelihood opportunities.Municipal commissioner Yashpal Meena said, “The selection of the PMC is a matter of pride, highlighting the initiative that has promoted both sanitation and women’s empowerment.” This project also aligns with the objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 and the sustainable development goals, serving as a model for other urban local bodies.
