POCSO case: Holehonnur police register case against a person

The Holehonnur police in Bhadravati taluk have registered a case against 55-year-old person under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012, following charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl.

The police registered the case on October 8 based on the girl’s statement. In her complaint, the survivor stated that the accused sexually assaulted her twice, in August and September. Through the Child Helpline, the survivor reached the girls’ home run by the Department of Women and Child Development in Shivamogga on October 6. The survivor, in her complaint, stated that she was pregnant.

The crime was reported to the police after the intervention of a member of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
