Andhra Pradesh Farmers’ Associations Coordination Committee has strongly denounced the inhuman repression by the police against the farmers of Kandukur village, who were peacefully protesting the allocation of 8,350 acres of farmland — including the thousand-acre Ulavapadu mango orchards, cultivated for generations — to the Shirdi-affiliated IndoSolar company.
Condemning the incident, convener of the Andhra Pradesh Farmers’ Associations Coordination Committee Vadde Shobhanadreeswara Rao said: “We strongly condemn the repressive actions of the Kandukur police. The peaceful protest of the farmers was met with brutality, and even a national political leader was not spared. Immediate action must be taken against the police personnel responsible for this assault.”
He urged the Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh to take swift and strict action against those involved in what he termed “an inhumane display of power against peaceful citizens.”
