Police bust car theft gang in Bengaluru

The Vidyaranyapura police recently arrested a gang of three involved in stealing small vans in Bengaluru.

In May this year, a van was stolen in Vidyaranyapura and the act was captured on CCTV cameras, which led the police to the gang. Police recovered six vans worth ₹12 lakh from them. The arrested have been identified as Umesh, Tabrez, and Zabi Khan - all residents of the city, and in their 30s.

In 2020, the gang members were arrested for stealing a tractor. Despite serving jail time in that case, they got out on bail and took to stealing vehicles, specifically targeting vans, the police said.
