Police bust land scam, arrest five brokers

Rajamahendravaram police on Tuesday arrested a five-member gang of real estate brokers for allegedly creating fake land documents to facilitate illegal land registration. The accused were identified as Md. Khasim Basha, Maddireddi Lakshmi Narayana, M. Nagendra Prasad, S. Bhaskara Rao and Yadagiri Suresh.

The incident came to light after Gollapalli Kasi Vishalakshi, a Non Resident Indian doctor, from Akiveedu mandal in West Godavari district, lodged a complaint with the police in June.

The brokers had reportedly created fake land documents and sold the land, owned by the victim, to a third party. The fraud came to light when the victim visited the Register office to sell her land.

In an official release, East Godavari Superintendent of Police D. Narasimha Kishore said that the gang of brokers is based in Rajamahendravaram city.

The police registered a case and investigation is on.
