YAMUNANAGAR: In a major crackdown on organized fraud, the team of Police Chowki Kheri Lakha Singh in Radaur block has busted a large cheating gang operating in Bhure Ka Majra village of the district and arrested one accused.

During the raid, police recovered equipment used for preparing fake currency notes, luxury vehicles, and several other objectionable items. The arrested accused has been identified as Vishal, a resident of Bank Colony, Yamunanagar. The arrested accused was produced before the court, which granted five days of police remand for further interrogation, said the police.Providing details, the Yamunanagar police spokesperson said that acting under the directions of SP Kamaldeep Goyal, the Kheri Lakha Singh police chowki team successfully exposed a well-organized fraud racket and apprehended one of its members.

A significant quantity of materials related to fake currency preparation, along with luxury cars, was seized during the operation.Chowki in-charge Jagdeep Singh stated that the police had received confidential information that the former sarpanch of Bhure Ka Majra, accused Rishi Pal alias Kala, along with his associates, was running a cheating gang. The gang targeted innocent people by luring them with the promise of doubling their money in a short span of time.

To gain their trust, the accused claimed they could prepare duplicate currency notes by applying glass dye and chemicals on genuine notes, Singh said.According to the modus operandi, when victims arrived with cash, one member of the gang would suddenly raise an alarm about a police raid. In the ensuing panic, the victims would flee the spot, leaving behind their real money, which the accused would then steal.Based on this input, a special police team was constituted and an immediate raid was conducted at the accused’s house.

However, during the raid, the main accused and some of his associates managed to escape under the cover of darkness through nearby sugarcane fields. Despite this, the police succeeded in arresting one accused who was hiding inside a room. From the spot, police recovered a total of 193 packets of white paper cut to the size of currency notes packed in four bags, one currency counting machine, and three smartphones (Samsung and Vivo). Additionally, two luxury cars were also seized. The total value of the recovered items has been estimated at approximately ?22.20 lakh.
