Deputy Inspector General of Police (Villupuram Range) E.S. Uma on Tuesday (October 20,2025) paid tributes to police personnel, who died while on duty, on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day at the Armed Reserve police grounds in Villupuram.
After the commemoration parade, Ms. Uma placed wreaths at the Martyrs’ column in the police grounds. Superintendent of Police P. Saravanan was present.
In Cuddalore district, Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar led the police in paying homage. The solemn occasion drew to a close with a 21 gun salute by Armed Reserve police personnel.

Kallakurichi Superintendent of Police G.S. Madhavan led the police in paying homage at the district police office in Kallakurichi.
The Police Commemoration Day is observed on October 21 every year to pay respects to the 10 policemen who were killed by Chinese troops in an ambush at Hot Springs in Ladakh in 1959.
As many as 66 personnel who lost their lives between September 1, 2024, and August 31 this year, were remembered across the country during the day.
