Around a dozen people were detained from different areas on Saturday
Dhanbad: A special police drive against unnecessary public gatherings and anti-social activities led to the detention of more than a dozen people across the district on Saturday night. Several individuals were also found consuming liquor at public places, prompting legal action by the police.The district-wide campaign was conducted on the instructions of senior superintendent of police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar. Police teams simultaneously carried out intensive checking and patrolling in various police station areas to curb unlawful activities and maintain public order.During the operation, police conducted inspections at major intersections, market areas, public places and other sensitive locations. Several people were found sitting in groups at public spots without any valid reason, causing inconvenience to local residents and passers-by.
All detained individuals were taken to the respective police stations for verification and questioning.In the course of the drive, police also caught a number of persons consuming alcohol openly at public places. The accused were brought to police stations for necessary medical examination and legal proceedings under relevant laws. Officials stated that strict action would continue against those disturbing peace and violating public order.
SSP Prabhat Kumar said that the special campaign was aimed at maintaining law and order, ensuring effective control over crime and creating a safe environment for common citizens. He added that police would continue to conduct such drives regularly against public nuisance, intoxication and other anti-social activities.The SSP further appealed to residents to cooperate with the administration by following the law and immediately informing the police about any suspicious activity through Dial 112.
