An inspector and constable attached to Kodigehalli station are in the dock for allegedly booking a fake case against a private firm employee to pressurise and torture him into selling his site to a neighbour.
The victim, Sanjay K.N., a resident of Kodigehalli, got out on bail and filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Police, North East Division, seeking action against the erring police officer for misusing power for their personal gain.
In his complaint filed on Thursday, Sanjay said that he owned a site in NTI layout 2nd stage and his neighbour, identified as Chetan, was eyeing it. The accused allegedly pestered him to sell his site and threatened him with dire consequences. Chetan later through Inspector Muthuraj allegedly filed a false case of forgery against Sanjay and summoned him to the station on the pretext of inquiry and forced him to sell the site.
When Sanjay refused, the Inspector allegedly registered an FIR and took him into 14 days of police custody to torture and harass him to sell the site.
He further alleged that a police constable close to the Inspector also demanded and took ₹2 lakh from Sanjay’s brother to ensure no physical torture was meted out to Sanjay in custody.
Unable to bear the harassment, Sanjay approached the senior police officials seeking help and blamed the police officials responsible for any eventualities that may happen to him.
