Collector Pamela Satpathy led people from various walks of life in paying homage to the police martyrs at the police parade grounds on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day in Karimnagar on Tuesday.
The Collector along with Karimnagar Police Commissioner Gaush Alam offered floral tributes and laid wreaths at the police martyrs’ memorial on the occasion.
A ‘Smriti Parade’ was organised in commemoration of the fallen heroes at the police parade grounds.
Glowing tributes were paid to as many as 191 police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty across the country in the last one year.
The supreme sacrifice of 47 police personnel who laid down their lives fighting left-wing extremism in the erstwhile Karimnagar district between 1985 and 2003 was remembered.
A host of police officials and family members of the police martyrs, among others, were present.
At the police parade grounds in Khammam, Collector Anudeep Durishetty and Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt paid homage to the police martyrs.
Smriti parades were organised in remembrance of police martyrs in all district police headquarters and Police Commissionerates in the erstwhile Karimnagar, Adilabad, Khammam and other districts.
Meanwhile, the Khammam police have lined up a host of programmes, including blood donation camps, cycle rallies, elocution competitions and online open house sessions from October 24 to 28 as part of the Police Commemoration Week observance.
