Police officer rescues man who fell into gorge at Sholayar dam viewpoint

A 65-year-old tourist from Kunnamkulam had a miraculous escape after falling nearly 15 ft into a rocky gorge at the Sholayar dam viewpoint.

The man, identified as Jose of Vazhapilly House, Arthatt, slipped while enjoying the view with his family on Thursday and was left stranded precariously on a rock ledge. His relatives immediately alerted the Malakkappara police.

The police rushed to the spot. Sub-inspector P.A. Azad tied himself to a rope and climbed down the steep, risky slope to reach the stranded tourist. With the support of his colleagues, he managed to bring the elderly man safely back to the road.
