Tamballapalle police of Annamayya district on Tuesday rescued 14-year-old Charan, a student of A.P. Tribal Welfare Gurukul Patashala, who was reported missing on October 31. He was found safe near Gandi Anjaneya Swamy temple in Kadapa district, bringing an end to a four-day search.
Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dheeraj Kunubilli said that, acting on a complaint from the school and parents, three special teams were formed to trace the boy. The teams were directed to work without delay, stressing that the boy’s safety was the top priority.
The Madanapalle sub-division police circulated Charan’s photograph and details across social media platforms and alerted police stations in Tirupati, Chittoor, and Annamayya districts, besides flashing information to the police of neighbouring Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. A devotee at Gandi temple recognised the boy and alerted the police, who reached the spot and confirmed his identity, taking him into their custody. The boy was said to have left the school, as he felt stressed with studies.
Charan, a native of Cheekalabayalu village, was reunited with his parents. The SP commended the officers for their prompt action and thanked the public for their cooperation.
