Police search for miscreants who disfigured Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga’s statue in Eluru district

Unidentified persons disfigured the statue of Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga located near Kalidindi village in Eluru district on Friday (August 22) night.

A masked person, who came near the statue on a bike damaged the statue, while another person picked him up and they escaped into the dark at around 1.10 a.m., said Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore.

“We are verifying the CCTV footages in Kalidindi village. All efforts are being made to identify the accused,” Mr. Pratap Shiva Kishore told The Hindu on Saturday (August 23).

Kaikalur MLA Kamineni Srinivas visited the place and performed ‘Palabhishekam’ to the statue of the former MLA and pacified the locals.

The situation in Kalidindi is peaceful, the SP said.
