Authorities in West Godavari district have imposed a ban on Vinayaka idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) and the use of DJ sound systems during the Vinayaka Chaviti celebrations.

At a joint review meeting held on Wednesday by Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi, District Collector Ch. Nagarani directed officials to ensure that only clay idols are installed at pandals.

The Collector announced that a single-window clearance would be given for the pandals. She emphasised that only devotional songs will be allowed to be play at the pandals to maintain a spiritual atmosphere.

Mr. Nayeem Asmi has urged pandal organisers to immerse idols only at designated sites in the Godavari river and canals. He warned of strict action against organisers violating the guidelines or playing indecent music.
