The Kerala Police have initiated an inquiry against V.G. Vinodkumar, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act).

The decision follows a complaint raised by two women sub-inspectors (SIs) from Pathanamthitta, who alleged that the senior officer had sent them inappropriate messages at odd hours when he was District Police Chief (Pathanamthitta). The women officers submitted the formal complaint to Deputy Inspector General of Police, Thiruvananthapuram Range, S. Ajeetha Begum, who recommended action under the POSH Act.

The State Police Chief (SPC) subsequently directed Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Merin Joseph to conduct a detailed investigation into the issue.

Mr. Vinodkumar, who alleged conspiracy against him, has requested the SPC to drop the ongoing inquiry and called for steps to initiate a probe against the complainants.
