Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) vice-chancellor (VC) Upendra Prasad Singh continued his surprise inspection drive for the third consecutive day on Wednesday in Nalanda district, aiming to ensure a better academic ambience across constituent colleges while the UG semester IV examinations are underway.During the inspection at Kisan College, Shosarai, principal Divyanshu Kumar, bursar Anand Shankar, while teachers Vijay Kumar and Awadhesh Kumar Dwivedi were found absent from duty. Taking serious note of the lapses, the VC directed the issuance of show-cause notices to the officials concerned and faculty teachers, seeking their explanations within 24 hours, said PPU registrar Abu Bakar.At Nalanda College, the inspection revealed an unexpected situation where several classrooms were found locked during academic hours.
The VC expressed surprise over the lack of classroom activity and directly interacted with students on campus to understand their academic issues and institutional challenges, he said.He also inspected laboratories, the library and other key infrastructure facilities in both the colleges. During the review, he assessed the availability of academic resources, classroom management and overall preparedness of the institutions amid ongoing examinations, the registrar said, adding the VC surprise inspections are part of a wider effort to strengthen discipline, improve teaching standards and ensure that students are not deprived of academic facilities during crucial examination periods.In addition, the VC indicated that strict action would be taken wherever negligence is found and emphasised that regular academic functioning must be maintained without disruption especially during examination sessions, he said.
