Baahubali- The Epic has shattered re-release records in India, grossing Rs 33.23 crore and surpassing Sanam Teri Kasam. This success highlights the growing trend of re-releasing older films, with Baahubali's repackaged version proving a massive hit. Despite an initial surge, collections saw a dip, but the film secured its top spot on day 15.
The wait is finally over, SS Rajamouli, Prabhas and Rana Daggubati’s Baahubali- The Epic has now become the biggest re-release film in India with a total collection of Rs 33.23 crore. The film beat Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam which on its re-release in 2024 had collected Rs 33.18 crore from the ticket window. The Indian ticket window has usually been taken forward by new releases but over the past few years thanks to covid wherein new films were still in the making and the ones which were already made were crashing- the trend to re-release old films caught on. Some of them did extremely well at the box office like Laila Majnu, Rockstar and Tumbbad. And with the release of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali- The Epic which is a re-cut version of both Baahubali films put together has now shown the way as to how an old film can be repackaged and presented to the audience and the film will be lapped up by them.
The Epic’s journey hasn't been very smooth, after a stellar start where the film collected Rs 24.35 crore in three days including premiere shows, the film’s collection has been on a downward spiral. The film has been able to take the top spot of re-release film on the 15th day of the release where it collected Rs 7 lakh. The film in North America has also very much come to an end of its theatrical run having minted USD 931,000 ( Rs 8.25 crore). The film is going to follow strategy created by Variance Films for RRR where the film won't go out of theaters completely but will continue playing in some centers across the US. SS Rajamouli is all set to embark on a new journey as he gears up to launch his new film today with
Mahesh Babu
,
Priyanka Chopra
and
Prithviraj
