Pradeep Ranganathan's latest, 'Dude,' starring Mamitha Baiju, has opened strong, surpassing his previous film's first-day box office. While initial collections are impressive, a minor jump on Saturday suggests the buzz might be fading. Mixed reviews could impact its future performance, making Sunday's figures crucial for its box office journey. Ranganathan's next, 'Love Insurance Kompany,' is slated for a year-end release.
After 2 back to back successes with films like
Love Today and Dragon, Pradeep Ranganathan is all set to deliver his hattrick of hits with his latest love story Dude co-starring Mamitha Baiju. The film on its first day went on to break Pradeep’s day 1 record as it went on to collect Rs 9.75 crore while Love Today had collected Rs 4.33 crore and Dragon had minted Rs 6.5 crore on their respective first days. The film on its second day ( Saturday) stayed steady as it collected Rs 10 as per Sacnilk, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 19.75 crore. Corresponding to the two past releases - the second day collection of the film showed only a minor jump of just over 2 % while Love Today saw its collection jump from Rs 4.33 crore to Rs 6.2 crore while Dragon’s collection jumped from Rs 6.75 crore to Rs 10.8 crore.
The miniscule jump on Saturday showcases that the initial buzz for the film has begun to die out and from here on the film will have to witness an uphill task at the box office. During the advance booking days the film’s collection had shown a massive jump as on 2nd day the collections jumped by over 500 % and on 3rd day they jumped over 150 %. But it seems the mixed reviews from critics and fans have begun to show impact on the collection. It would be interesting to see how the film fares on Sunday as that would decide the journey of the film ahead.
Pradeep will have one more chance at the box office this year, his next film
Love Insurance Kompany which was also eyeing the Diwali release will hit the theaters by the end of the year. The film also stars Krithi Shetty, SJ Suryah, and Vignesh Shivan.
