'Pranav Mohanlal reminded me of Al Pacino'; Says director Bhadran; hails 'Dies Irae'

Veteran director Bhadran has showered glowing praise on Dies Irae, the latest film by Rahul Sadasivan starring Pranav Mohanlal.Sharing his thoughts through social media, Bhadran described the movie as “an edge-of-the-seat experience” that deeply moved him and the audience alike.

Bhadran says he felt the urge to watch 'Dies Irae' without delay

“We have seen Rahul Sadasivan’s brilliance since Bhoothakaalam, and Bramayugam was equally commendable. But when Dies Irae released, I felt an instant urge to watch it without delay,” Bhadran noted in his heartfelt social media post.He observed that although the filmmaker’s works share a similar genre, each film stands out for its unique narrative and emotional honesty. “A sincere theme, combined with a tightly written screenplay, kept the audience — myself included — completely absorbed throughout,” the director wrote.

Praising Pranav Mohanlal’s performance, Bhadran said the young actor showcased a refreshing and mature approach to acting. “I witnessed a new dimension of Pranav’s acting throughout the film. He reminded me of Al Pacino, the actor who amazed Hollywood in the 1980s and 1990s,” he wrote.The filmmaker lauded Pranav’s understated emotional depth and restraint, noting that he avoided the usual loud theatrics often seen in commercial cinema. “At such a young age, he has understood that subtle emotion, not exaggeration, defines a true character,” Bhadran remarked, adding with affection, “Pranav, you truly are Lal’s brilliant son!”

Bhadran also praised Dies Irae’s technical finesse, particularly highlighting Christo Xavier’s background score. “The film’s editing, silences, and sound design worked in perfect harmony, enhanced by a brilliant background score that elevated the storytelling. Christo, my heartfelt congratulations — the sky is your limit!”Meanwhile, the Pranav Mohanlal starrer horror film is doing a magnificent business at the box office. According to the Sacnilk website, 'Dies Irae' is inching closer towards Rs 30 crores. Now the Indian net collections for the Rahul Sadasivan's directorial stand at Rs 28.35 crores in just 8 days.
