Ahmedabad: On Sunday, the maximum temperature in the city was 41.5 degrees celsius, 0.2 degrees higher than normal. On Saturday, the maximum temperature touched 40 degrees celsius.At 23.8 degrees, the minimum temperature on Sunday was 4.3 degrees lower than normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the city’s maximum temperature is likely to be around 41 degrees on Monday.At 8.30am on Sunday, the city’s relative humidity was 64%.The forecast for the state indicated no large change in maximum temperatures over the next three days, and thereafter a gradual fall by 2-4 degrees celsius is likely.The IMD forecast added that the temperatures are likely to go below 40 degrees from Tuesday with the onset of pre-monsoon activities over the region.The forecast indicated chances of thunderstorms with light to moderate showers in some parts of the state from Monday. Moderate thunderstorms with lightning are likely in parts of Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Dahod, Mahisagar, and Chhota Udepur.Light to moderate showers are expected in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dangs, Navsari, Valsad, and Tapi.Most places in the state recorded maximum temperatures around 40 degrees or below with exceptions of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Surendranagar (41.5 degrees), and Vallabh Vidyanagar (41.1 degrees).
