Newly promoted Premier League side Leeds United strengthened their lineup with the acquisition of midfielder Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United on Saturday.

Longstaff posted an update that read, “A new start and a fresh challenge. Buzzing to have signed for this massive club. The hard work begins. MOT," with a picture of the Englishman inking his deal with Leeds.

Newcastle bid farewell to one of their own with a post that read, “We can confirm that Sean Longstaff has completed a move to Leeds United. Joining the Academy aged nine, Sean made 214 senior appearances and cemented his place in club history as part of our Carabao Cup winning squad. Wishing you all the best for the future, Sean"

Longstaff, older brother of fellow Magpie Matty, joined the Newcastle youth academy as a 9-year-old in the year 2006 and made his first appearance for the Toon Army in the year 2016. The midfielder went on to make over 200 appearances for the club and was part of the EFL Cup winning side helmed by English head coach Eddie Howe.
