Priyal Gupta on Tumm Se Tumm Tak: Was pleasantly surprised to know that Indian television is moving on from the saas-bahu saga

Priyal Gupta, known for his roles in shows like Pyar Tune Kya Kiya and his impressive portfolio of over 80 high-profile ad commercials alongside celebrities such as Alia Bhatt, Rashmika Mandanna, and Ranbir Kapoor, is currently seen as Neil in Tumm Se Tumm Tak.

The show explores the unconventional love story of Anu and Arya, who fall for each other despite a significant age gap.Priyal admits he was intrigued by the concept and pleasantly surprised by the changing landscape of Indian television. “I was pleasantly surprised to know that Indian television is moving on from the saas-bahu saga,” he shared, expressing his excitement at being part of a show that dares to tell a different story.Talking about his role, he revealed, “Neil is a multi-faceted character. Though he comes with clear intentions, the idea is that it shouldn’t come across as such. I have a warm, friendly face, and hence I have always been cast as the ‘good guy.’ But this time, I am excited to bring a different element to my performance.”When asked about his preparation for the role, Priyal said there wasn’t much time to plan extensively.

“To be honest, there wasn’t much time to prepare for the role, but as an actor, every audition is a prep in itself. You have to be ready to grab the opportunity when it knocks at your door. Neil is quite different from who I am in real life, but once I understood his character arc, I was able to embody his mannerisms and thought process,” he explained.Praising the work environment, Priyal added, “It has been a congenial experience working with the whole team on the set so far.”With Tumm Se Tumm Tak, Priyal Gupta brings a refreshing perspective and performance, reflecting the evolving storytelling on Indian television.
