An unexpected disruption on the route of Congress general secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s convoy triggered by a wrong turn, near Mukkom, in Kozhikode district of Kerala on Wednesday (October 29, 2025) evening has raised questions about the security planning and coordination by the police.
The convoy, travelling after a public event in Malappuram district en route to Kodenchery in Kozhikode district, got diverted from the pre-planned route via Agastianmuzhi and proceeded through the Thamarassery route. Sources said the detour around 5.30 p.m led to the pilot vehicles moving several hundred metres ahead before the security team realised the error, resulting in the MP’s vehicle being caught in traffic at Agastianmuzhi junction.
Party sources said despite the pre-planned advisory notices and route clearance, the change in routing went “uncommunicated” to the lead escort. They said the incident on the Edavanna-Koyilandy State highway caused by “a navigational glitch” underscored the need for tighter route-monitoring for high-profile people who travel through hilly terrain with multiple alternative links.
No security lapse: police
Meanwhile, police sources said there were no security lapses on their part.
They also said the complaints related to the same would be brought to the attention of the higher authorities.
