Ahana (The Light Within), the debut Bengali feature film of Promita Bhowmik got bagful of awards, nominations, and accolades from prestigious film festivals in India and abroad. Now the film has been released in theatres on 5th September and getting positive feedback from audience.On September 6th Ahana was being showed in multiple theatres of Kolkata and in eminent international film festivals in Washington DC, USA and Dublin, Ireland on the same day. The film is making waves across the globe.'Ahana' depicts the journey of a woman in a patriarchal society and her struggle to preserve her identity and reach the destination of her choice. The storyline touches upon the sensitive but critical issue of male infertility and its impact in Indian society. Makes question on motherhood and womanhood. The film features national award-winning actress Sudipta Chakraborty in titular role. Joy Sengupta plays Ahana's husband Rudranil.

Her films 'Porichoy' and 'Probaho' had travelled in several prestigious international film festivals all over the world. Bhowmik, the director of the feature film Ahana is also the name behind the story, screenplay, and dialogues.
Editing is done by Sankha and cinematography by Joydeep Bhowmik. There is no background music throughout the film, which is rare in Bengali cinema.
